You've Stubbed Your Toe

You’ve stubbed your toe

The pain rushes through you

You look at me in despair

Feeling the pain consume you

I try to hold you close

Try to tell you everything is ok

You push me away; squirming in my arms

Yelling how it’s not ok

I hold you close despite your fight

Waiting for the pain to pass

You won’t let me look at your toe

It’s so painful for you; I want it to pass

I hold you tight

You eventually calm down

We look together at the pain you felt

And soon that frown turns upside down
